Melania Trump Unveils Completed Tennis Pavilion Inspired By White House’s Wings

Melania Trump has announced the completion of the White House tennis pavilion, which she embarked on in 2018. Her project included the refurbishment of the tennis court and the children’s garden, along with the construction of the new pavilion.
The White House’s official website now shows photos of the new structure, which has replaced the old storage shed. The building looks like a smaller version of the White House, complete with seating areas, white tablecloths, and chairs.
According to the site, the building’s resemblance to the White House is planned. The architecture is inspired by the East and West Wings of the White House and is meant to blend into the building’s design. The pavilion also has a colonnade, parapet wall and fanlight windows.
Previously, former president Barack Obama turned the tennis court into one suitable for basketball. Trump decided to take it back to its tennis roots.
Planning for the project started in 2018 and Trump formally broke ground on it in October 2019.
“I am pleased to announce the completion of the Tennis Pavilion on the White House grounds. Thank you to all the talented craftsmen who made this project possible and to the generous supporters of the White House,” Trump said in a statement. “It is my hope that this private space will function as both a place of leisure and gathering for future First Families.”
