Adobe Releases Last-Ever Update For Flash Player Before Killing Support In 2021

Adobe has sent out a final update before it ends support for the longstanding Flash Player on 31 December 2020.
Normally, users would be able to read about an update on the patch notes, but this time, Adobe has replaced it with a farewell message to Flash Player.
“Today marks the final scheduled release of Flash Player for all regions outside of Mainland China,” Adobe’s message reads. “We want to take a moment to thank all of our customers and developers who have used and created amazing Flash Player content over the last two decades.”
“We are proud that Flash had a crucial role in evolving web content across animation, interactivity, audio, and video,” the company adds. “We are excited to help lead the next era of digital experiences.”
Adobe will block flash content from running in the player from 12 January 2021, and it has alerted users to uninstall Flash Player to protect their systems. Additionally, several web browsers and platforms have announced no longer prolonging Flash support.
Flash Player played an integral role in animation during the earlier days of the internet. In a bid to preserve the history, the Internet Archive has developed a library of animations, games and other Flash apps that will be able to run via an emulator.
