Xbox has released a short film by Taika Waititi that actually brings an Xbox Series X gamer’s dreams to life.
Titled Lucid Odyssey, the film is part of Xbox’s Made from Dreams series, and was created by advertising agency 215 McCann and a group of dream scientists using wild Target Dream Incubation methods to promote the company’s Series X.
Through dream recording technology, Xbox, the agency, and the scientists conducted a series of lucid dreaming experiments, where they captured and decoded the real dreams of a gamer after trying out the Xbox Series X for the first time.
“In this short film created by Academy Award-winning director, Taika Waititi, the worlds of art, science, and gaming are merged —bringing the dreams of gamer Krystal Holmes (aka MoonLiteWolf) to life, after she played the Xbox Series X,” Xbox said of its new promo video. “This epic adventure captures the spirit of the actual research process, the boundless depths of MoonLiteWolf’s detailed and vibrant dreams and then actively challenges our perceptions of one particular Xbox character, as we have known them.”
The narration from Holmes in Lucid Odyssey was the actual audio used in her dream study, which has been repurposed for the short clip.
