Reddit Shares The Most Popular Topics That Grasped The Internet In 2020

2020 has been a year filled with many notable events that will go down in history. To offer a trip down memory lane, Reddit has published its own Year in Review that sums up the most popular topics discussed on its platform.
Unsurprisingly, most of the topics were related to COVID-19, as well as the impacts that stemmed from the pandemic. There were more than 50 million mentions of the coronavirus crisis on Reddit.
Some of the topics include employment issues, medical advice, and social distancing.
The platform also saw a spike of 9972.4-percent activity increase in its r/blacklivesmatter thread. As the US elections also took place this year, the thread r/politicaldiscussion saw a surge of 106 percent in activity.
As people stayed apart from each other this year, many looked into social support on Reddit. Some explored relationship advice, while others appealed for connections through video games and music recommendations.
Quarantining activities were also a popular topic in the platform. There were around 378.8-percent more Engagements levels for r/sourdough saw a 3.78.8 percent rise as compared to last year, and a 121.7-percent increase in posts for “cut my own hair.”
In addition, internet users were especially fixated on entertainment. Some of the popular television shows talked about online were Big Brother, The Office, and Game of Thrones. In the films department, people were heatedly discussing 2020 favorites like Tenet and Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.
