Pixar Teases Visuals For ‘Lightyear’ Film Starring Chris Evans As Buzz Lightyear

Pixar Animation announced a lineup of movies at the company’s big investor day, and among them is an epic sci-fi film called Lightyear, which Pixar describes as “the definitive story of the original Buzz Lightyear.”
The film will find Chris Evans voicing the space character, whose adventures spawned the Buzz Lightyear toy of Toy Story. Not much about the plot has been revealed, but the storyline will show how the young test pilot turns into a Space Ranger.
According to Polygon, Lightyear will be the first time that the animation company has ever made a Toy Story spinoff into a full movie.
Evans explained his role in a tweet, writing, “Just to be clear, this isn’t Buzz Lightyear the toy. This is the origin story of the human Buzz Lightyear that the toy is based on.”
Pixar has also released the film’s title that looks poised to take everything to infinity… and beyond. The clip shows the wordmark in sleek silver and bold lettering before an arrow cuts across it.
Pixar also shared a photo of the “young test pilot that became the Space Ranger we all know him to be today.” The character appears to be in a futuristic looking helmet while clad in a space-looking suit.
Lightyear will come to theaters 17 June 2022.
