OPPO & Nendo Create ‘Slide-Phone’ Concept That Unfolds Into Three Screen Sizes

Japanese design firm Nendo has teamed up with OPPO to create a concept phone that that would allow users to unfold the device into three different screen sizes.
The Slide-Phone concept has three foldable screens and lets you use the phone in various sizes, depending on what you wish to do. When the phone is fully folded, it resembles the size of a credit card.
According to Nendo, the phone resembles an “inchworm” due to its design. It folds out section by section, with its hinge bending like the back of an inchworm.
Opening up the first segment reveals 40mm of the display, which allows users to do simple tasks like checking notifications, call history or accessing the music player controls. When it is unfolded for the second time, users can now take take selfies on the 80mm display. Extend the device all the way, and it reveals the entire screen, which is ideal for gaming or watching videos.
The concept phone also has an inbuilt stylus for you to jot down notes. Towards the end of the clip, the phone is seen sliding into a charging dock and some of the panels are shown to have different colors, stating that the outer panels can be customized.
Nendo also showed off the ‘music-link’ concept via Twitter, which revolves around a pair of TWS earphones. The earphones function differently based on the accessory you pair them with; they can be clipped together so you can carry them around like a pendant around your neck, and when plugged to a neck strap, they function as neckband earphones.
The concept of ‘slide-phone’ is that smartphone users are using their phone to interact with the world around them more, yet the devices are often too large in size.
