Totoro Joins Loewe’s New Pieces, And They Will Make You Squeal With Delight

Luxury house Loewe has teased a new collection featuring Studio Ghibli’s iconic character Totoro from My Neighbor Totoro.
The collection features ready-to-wear garments with Ghibli-inspired details. Expect to see cotton t-shirts and hoodies with Susuwatari motif, leather biker jackets with forest scapes painted on them, as well as a knitted sweater with Totoro on it.
Accessories such as calfskin satchels, wallets, bucket bags are all part of the tie-up. Some of the leather accessories feature characters from the film, and they are branded on the items using Loewe’s own leather marquetry known as “intarsia.”
“There is a natural longing for heart-warming feelings right now,” creative director Jonathan Anderson explained. “When I think of a movie that affords me that kind of solace, speaking just as directly to a child as it does to an adult, that movie is My Neighbor Totoro.”
Anderson said the collection “celebrates the poetry and immediacy of these character’s inconography—qualities have made My Neighbor Totoro a true culture landmark.”
