Slack’s Major Outage Right After The Holidays Was Cause For (Longer) Celebration

It’s not easy clicking into productive mode just after a long string of celebrations. Luckily for many, things just worked out—Slack faced an outage at about 10am ET on the first work day of the year, unofficially extending the holiday period for users.
Some brands were quick on their feet and didn’t hold back on how relieved they were about the longer break.
Relaxation app Headspace found it opportune time for the world to regain its sanity before the work year officially started. “Everyone take a deep breath,” it reassured on Twitter. “First day back to work and Slack is down, but we’re going to be okay.”
Thesaurus.com had a few words to describe the downtime: “Mess… chaos… disarray… confusion… mayhem… shambles… turmoil… wreck.”
Service finally resumed for some at 12pm ET. Hopefully, this unexpected extra time offered sufficient room to reset for the year ahead.
