Ex-Bottega Veneta Designer Debuts Stylish & Sustainable Kicks Like The ‘Greta’

Mirco Scoccia, the Creative director of Aerosoles, has launched his own women’s shoe line that is fashionable yet sustainable at the same time.
For his 02 Monde selection, Soccia—who had spent 20 years designing shoes for Bottega Veneta, Tory Burch and Jill Stuart—created flats, sneakers and heels sporting the use of textiles such as Freska, a mixture of corn and cereal; Vitigna, a leather-like material made from grape skins; Pinatex, a mixture of pineapple and Vitigna; and Bioveg, a leather made from vegetable oil and polyester from water bottles.
“I worked for luxury companies and I saw so much waste during production. I stopped to think about what could we do to make it more sustainable?” he shared.
Scoccia explained that the process of obtaining responsibly-sourced materials took close to three years.
The designs are named after women who have actively spoken out about conserving the environment, including climate activist Greta Thunberg. Scoccia has named one of them the Greta sneaker, and it features an all-black upper with white soles and blue accents.
The shoe brand will be donating one percent of its profits to One Percent Planet for each pair sold.
