White House Is Applauded For Shining Light On Representation In Website Makeover

The official White House website has received a makeover following the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Unless you are a coder, you might miss this Easter egg on the site. In its source code, which calls for young coders to join the US Digital Service.
“If you’re reading this, we need your help building back better,” reads the line of code. The line is linked to to the US Digital Services’ website, an organization that aims to help the administration advance technologically.
The page also has a new change that has been welcomed by advocacy group the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). On the contact form, the website lets people pick their pronouns accordingly. The drop-down menu includes “she/her,” “he/him,” “they/them,” “other” and “prefer not to share” options.
The small yet meaningful change has been applauded by social media users. “This is such a small thing that could get lost in the shuffle of every big thing that we are looking forward to and trying to do, but it’s very important and kind and I’m happy someone made it their job to get this done on day one of this admin,” a Twitter user shared.
Other changes on the website include a “dark mode” and a toggle to enlarge text on the site.
