Amazon has unveiled a new app icon that is inspired by its brown cardboard shipping boxes with the bright blue tape.
The icon, which has been rolled out across phones and the App Store, features Amazon’s signature arrow that doubles up as a smile against a brown background and a blue parcel tape at the top. This replaces its previous app icon of a blue shopping cart underneath the Amazon branding.
The signature arrow has also received a color update from orange to black.
While the updated look is indeed playful, social media users have spotted a flaw that you will not be able to unsee.
Several have noticed that the symbol resembles the bottom half of Adolf Hitler’s face, as the tape seems to be shaped like his trimmed mustache.
“My parents use Amazon nearly every day. They’re going to be lost for the next few days. When they ask where Amazon’s gone, I’ll tell them to look for the cardboard Hitler,” a Twitter user joked. “Amazon’s new app logo be lookin’ like they’re the third most downloaded in the ‘Reich’ section,” another shared.
Others, however, have showered the revamp with praise. “New icon for the Amazon app? This is infinitely more elegant and a little playful. I love it!” one user tweeted.
