Man And His Late Wife Reunite With The Help Of Virtual Reality

There are no instructions to teach you how to move on after a loved one has passed on. A South Korean television network, MBC Life, hopes to bring some solace to grieving family members with its documentary I Met You, which reconnects living people with the departed by recreating the latter in virtual reality.
The show previously captured worldwide attention when it brought a mother and her late seven-year-old daughter together again. This time around, producers of the series reunited a husband, 51-year-old Kim Jung-soo, with his wife, who passed away from a severe illness four years ago.
It took six months to complete the VR avatar of Kim’s wife, as the team wanted the experience to be as realistic as possible. The model had to not only look like her but also replicate her mannerisms and voice.
According to Bored Panda, some of the couple’s five children were averse to the idea of their mother being replicated in VR, as her passing was too painful for them. However, the man’s greatest wish was to see her again, “even just a shadow, one more time.”
The heart-wrenching reunion saw Kim holding hands with his wife and sharing a little dance with her. Meanwhile, their children watched on with tears in their eyes.
Everyone works through grief differently. For Kim, being affirmed that his beloved is no longer in pain, and seeing it for himself, might be the closure he needs.
