‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ Shares Glimpse Of Jared Leto’s Brand New Joker

If things go well, fans will remember Jared Leto’s Joker not as his portrayal in Suicide Squad, but as the darker vision in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Leto will return with a new interpretation of the clown prince of crime in Justice League: The Director’s Cut, an extended, 240-minute version of the 2017 film. In place of his tattoos, grill, and short hair, the reimagined Joker is seen in newly-released pictures with a hospital gown and surgical mask, looking like a patient in a psychiatric hospital.
Director Zack Snyder told Vanity Fair that Leto will also don a bulletproof vest, as well as display law enforcement badges he collects as trophies, in the Director’s Cut.
Snyder was originally in charge of the 2017 version, but stepped down following the death of his daughter to “be with my family, be with my kids, who really need me,” he shared with the Hollywood Reporter then. “They are all having a hard time. I’m having a hard time,” he described.
The project was then handed over to Joss Whedon, and after a lukewarm response with the Justice League release, Warner Bros. Pictures promised disgruntled audiences to release an alternate cut closer to Snyder’s interpretation.
This new version will include the Joker, who was absent in the 2017 film. As for how he will play into Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the director detailed that the villain will manifest in “a dream sequence, a psychic vision” with Ben Affleck’s Batman. This will be the first time the two characters, played by these actors, will come face to face.
Snyder had wanted to put the superhero and villain together in a future DC film, but thought the new Justice League might be a suitable medium to showcase the archnemeses.
The upcoming film is slated to arrive on HBO Max on 18 March 2021.
