Advertising agency Mullenlowe has created an eye-popping collection of postcards to highlight how the lack of gun controls is changing America.
At first glance, these postcards seemed to look like your typical cheery souvenirs, but if you look closer, they illustrate the deadliest mass shootings in US history. The letterings on these cards shows the horrifying events that took place in that town.
The project, dubbed Shamecards, is created for the non-profit organization Change the Ref, which is dedicated to change gun laws. Change the Ref Is founded by Manny and Patricia Oliver, who are the parents of Parkland shooting victim Joaquin Oliver.
The project features 50 digital cards created by 30 artists from 25 countries across the world, and it can be downloaded from the website here. Each artwork tells the story of a mass shooting through the artist’s eyes together with a short description of the massacre.
The aim is to send these postcards to the members of Congress to demand gun reforms.
“America is known for mass shootings that happen over and over and over again. It’s time to turn this shameful reputation to a message of bravery, vindication, and common sense,” Manny Oliver said. “Shamecards were created to embolden lawmakers who wouldn’t budge on gun control to stand up to the NRA and to challenge the representatives and senators who promised us they were on our side, to keep their promise.”
