Netflix Is Offering Animation Scholarships Designed By Studio Ghibli Veteran

Netflix Japan has teamed up with a Studio Ghibli veteran and a Japanese anime studio to offer scholarships to up-and-coming animators.
WIT Studio, known for producing the first three seasons of Attack of the Titan, has formed the WIT Animator Academy, and is offering those interested in animation a chance of a lifetime.
The program, which will be hosted at the Sasayuri Video Training Institute, will be a six-month-long program and classes will be held five days a week. After the program, students will have a chance to work on an original Netflix anime, which will be produced by WIT.
Wondering how much the course costs? Not a single dollar, because Netflix is footing the bill and is also pledging to help students out with their living expenses during the course.
The WIT Animator Academy course is open to foreigners, with these conditions: they must reside in Japan and be able to understand and converse in Japanese.
According to SoraNews24, the curriculum will be designed by Hitomi Tateno, who has worked as an animation checker for Studio Ghibli for 25 years. Tateno has worked on Studio Ghibli animation classics such as Howl’s Moving Castle, Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro.
Applications can be made online between now and 28 February through the WIT Animation Academy website. It is only recruiting 10 students for its first intake for now, and there will be “practical skill exams and interviews” with the final selection in March, per SoraNews24.
