It’s no secret that numerous nursery rhymes and fairy tales have pretty
grim origins, but New Zealand-based life insurance company Partners Life is taking things even further by giving one well-loved nursery rhyme a dreadful outlook.
In its Unhappily Ever After campaign, produced by creative company Special Group, the
Three Blind Mice aren’t just hindered by a lack of sight but have also lost their tails, their main directional aids.
The spot aims to illustrate to new parents the possibly dire repercussions of not having serious injuries covered.
“This is a really powerful platform that allows us to talk about some pretty heavy themes in a really unique and beautifully crafted way,” explained Jonathan McMahon of Special Group, via
Little Black Book. “It’s a good reminder that sometimes insurance isn’t just for the loss of life, but sometimes for the loss of a tail… or three.”
For obvious reasons, the advertisement will only air after prime time.
