Wu-Tang Clan Unveils ‘Rarest’ Book In Hip-Hop History, Its 400-Pound Photobook

Wu-Tang Clan is set to release a photography book titled Legacy. The book, which is being billed as “the rarest book in hip-hop history,” contains “rare and never before seen photos” of the hip-hop group.
The massive photography book features over 300 pages of unreleased photos that document the rap group’s history. The curated images were shot by renowned photographers including Danny Hastings, Kyle Christie, PROTIM PHOTO, and Andy Cantillon. Some shots were also taken by the band’s family members and friends.
The book, which is handmade from top-tier leather in Italy, will be limited to 36 copies. Each copy is signed, numbered, and issued a certificate of authenticity, and will be housed in a 400-pound case that is designed by sculptor Gethin Jones.
The steel structure will also boast 36 bronze encrusted chambers, a nod to the band’s 1993 album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). The design is inspired by ancient bronze ritual bowls used in the Zhou Dynasty, which was ruled by King Wu-Wang.
“We’re excited to share the Wu-Tang Clan’s history through rare and never-before-seen photos,” Wu-Tang Management CEO John “Mook” Gibbons said in a statement. “It’s been fun rediscovering moments from the past while creating this limited piece of art … From conception to the present day, this is the story of the undisputed greatest Hip Hop group of all time being unveiled through rare and never before seen photos.”
The book, which measures at 21-inches by 21-inches, is described to be in a “large-format ‘coffee table’ style.” Each page “is a snapshot of Wu-Tang history in the making, providing a unique glimpse into the origins of the biggest hip-hop crew of all time,” per the group’s website.
