Thanks to augmented reality, WWF Chile has created a new campaign that brings extinct animals to life.
The organization teamed up with Inbrax to launch a website called Huellas de Extincion (Footprints of Extinction) where visitors can interact with extinct animals in the exhibition.
The virtual museum allows visitors to learn about species on the verge of disappearing or are already extinct so as to educate future generations on how to prevent existing animals from suffering the same fate.
The website offers an immersive experience where users can interact with the animals and learn more about the stories of the Dodo Bird, the Nebulous Panther, and the Giant Alca. Once you have made your selection, you will be presented with information about the animal—what it ate, how it lived, and its natural habitat via an augmented-reality experience.
The campaign also has QR codes for users to meet these animals from their mobiles, wherever they are.
“The current world scenario under COVID-19 has made us rethink the way we connect with audiences, how we relate to each other and, above all, how our children study, we wanted to make a contribution so that the little ones are entertained in a pandemic and at the same time become aware of species that do not exist today and that the only way they have to know them is virtual,” said Pedro Antolin, creative director at Inbrax.
