Harry Styles’ ‘Little Mermaid’-Inspired Photoshoot Challenges Gender Stereotypes

Harry Styles’ fans are in hysterics after photos of the star dressed as Ariel from The Little Mermaid went viral online.
Images of the pop star see him posing in a shell bra, fishtail, and bright red wig. The photos were reportedly from a 2019 Saturday Night Live promo shoot that was never used.
In the photos, Styles looks like a rock-star version of the sweet mermaid who dreamt of being human. Styles poses on a red chair while holding a glass of champagne and a cigarette.
The mermaid costume makes perfect sense for Styles, who is a huge fan of mermaids. The star has a large mermaid tattoo on his arm, and when he was asked why he got the tattoo, he smiled and said, “I am a mermaid,” per Hollywood Life.
In 2019, Styles turned down the role of Prince Eric in an upcoming live-action version of the Disney animated classic starring Halley Bailey as Ariel and Melissa McCarthy as the villainous Ursula. With these new images surfaced, many fans have joked that Styles actually wanted to play Ariel herself, instead of her human love interest.
