Apple Sneakily Debuts Braided Cables Demanded By Users—But They’re Not For Sale

Most iPhone users will tell you tales of woe of how they’ve broken tons of charging cables over the years. While Apple is behind some of this generation’s most ingenious products, some might argue that its charging cables aren’t the best.
However, the company quietly unveiled a new and improved braided charging cable together with the iMac at the Spring Loaded event.
Apple revealed that the new iMac charger would feature a “beautifully woven two-meter-long color-matched cable,” but it turns out this woven design will be applied to the USB-C-to-Lighting cable too.
The only thing: as of now, you can only get the iPhone and iMac chargers together with the 24-inch iMac.
According to BGR, Apple has kept most of this a secret. It hasn’t made mention of the new USB-C-to-Lightning cable anywhere in its press release, or on the iMac’s product page. It’s not even listed in the online store’s iPhone accessories section.
However, internet sleuths eventually caught on. On the iMac order page, the ‘What’s in the Box’ section presents everything that is included in the iMac 24-inch box.
Take a closer look, and you’ll see that the USB-C-to-Lightning cable looks a lot like the braided version previously rumored for the iPhone 12. It’s been included in the iMac box to charge the Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse.
With this new braided cable available together with the iMac, here’s hoping it’s only time before Apple rolls it out as an iPhone accessory we can purchase. Could iPhone cable troubles finally be over?
