NSFW: Vivienne Westwood & Other Designers Create Ode To The Penis In New Book NSFW

As a result of the lockdown, physical intimacy has become even more sacred than it ever was.
London-based illustrator Dominic Myatt is now paying homage to experiences people took for granted pre-pandemic in their most distilled form: the penis. While phallic art has been around for millenniums, it all suddenly seems so refreshing with Penile Papers, a new illustration book compiled with solicited dick pictures from profilic creatives.
“This publication might well be the closest many of its readers get to an unfamiliar penis for a little while longer,” Myatt shares in a statement with Dazed.
The book consists of 62 penis drawings from numerous personalities, including fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, singer-songwriter Beth Ditto, singer Mica Levi, television presenter Caroline Flack, photographer Nick Night, fashion designer Andreas Kronthaler, musician Andrew Huang, and womenswear designer Giles Deacon. However, Myatt notes that “people from outside” the public eye—like his friend’s grandmother, a call center operator, and sex club clients—also contributed to the project for a wildly “varied and diverse” outlook.
Westwood’s interpretation is one of his favorite. “She delicately drew [it] on pattern cutting paper and kindly had [it] posted to me along with her husband Andreas [Kronthaler],” Myatt adds.
Girth its salt, pun absolutely intended, is the size of the book. It measures nine centimeters (3.5 inches), the supposed size of the average penis. Even better, the copy can be rolled up to form a paper phallic sculpture—also a deliberate touch. Myatt says it is “a nod to the phenomenon of the dick pic, solicited and otherwise, whilst also ridiculing it at the same time.”
Penile Papers will have a limited print of just 200 copies, with all profits to be equally distributed between HIV and sexual health nonprofit the Terrence Higgins Trust and race equality group Runnymede Trust. Find out more via MNK Press, the distributor of Penile Papers.
