‘Pinky Gloves’ Designed To Avoid Getting Blood On Hands Face Wrath Of Internet

Two German men have faced backlash after launching ‘Pinky Gloves’ to help women address the “problem” of disposing of period products.
The vibrant pink gloves are designed to be worn while removing tampons or pads, to prevent wearers from getting menstrual blood on their hands. The used period products can then be wrapped in the glove and disposed of.
However, these men have infuriated women for claiming to address an “issue” surrounding menstruation.
“So these dudes designed pink gloves so tampons and pads can be disposed of properly and discretely. I s**t you not,” tweeted OB-GYN Jennifer Gunter. She also shared a translated screenshot of a post on Pinky Gloves’ Instagram, which detailed why the men created the product.
It explained that when they moved into a women’s apartment, there was “no good solution when it comes to the disposal of tampons.” It added that the men were “amazed” their female roommates had “problems” disposing of period products, so the men used their “inventive spirit” to fix them.
“We made it our mission to find a solution that makes life easier for all women during the period, a safe feeling and at the same time appealing and stylish,” the post read. The men hoped to address the “problem” of women using and disposing of period products – especially tampons – without getting blood on their hands.
Unfortunately, many who actually menstruate are not impressed. “I’m so confused about what problem they think they’re solving. Do they think we don't know how to wash our hands after handling used sanitary products?” one person said in a reply to Gunter’s tweet.
The creators behind the product have since responded to the backlash. “We have not dealt adequately and properly with the subject. That was a big mistake,” the brand wrote, according to a Google translation via HuffPost. “We take your feedback very seriously and [will] rethink our product and reflect on the entire history of its creation.”
