Beyond Meat’s Burger 3.0 Is Even Closer To Real Beef, And Has A Value Price Too

Beyond Meat, one of the brands leading the plant-based meats charge, has developed the third iteration of its burger.
Now, its formulation has less fat, saturated fat, and calories than both its predecessors. Plus, its protein remains higher than in traditional ground beef. The highly-anticipated improved Beyond Burger will arrive in grocery stores the week of May 3.
The firm also says the new version tastes “meatier and juicier,” and Beyond is pricing it competitively with animal beef. It’ll be available in the brand’s first-ever value four-pack, retailing for a suggested US$9.99, which translates to approximately US$2.50 per quarter-pounder.
According to CNET, this places the plant-based burger as a cheaper alternative to the US$3.15 per patty price at Target, and far below the original US$4 per patty price it launched with.
“We are continuously working on understanding beef flavor at a deeper level to ensure our plant-based beef platform delivers a delicious and satisfying sensory experience,” said Dariush Ajami, Chief Innovation Officer at Beyond Meat.
The brand doesn’t label its packaging with the different iterations, so in order to identify the latest version, look out for the red label saying “new meatier taste” and green label stating “35% less saturated fat”.
