Samsung’s Galaxy Books Have ‘Smartphone-Like Mobility,’ One Turns Into A Tablet

Earlier this month, Samsung teased that the “most powerful” Galaxy devices yet were on their way. And now, they’re finally here.

The Korean tech giant is merging its Galaxy smartphones and computers with two all-new Galaxy Book Pros—the Galaxy Book Pro and Galaxy Book Pro 360—which it says boast “smartphone-like” portability.

The fusion is intended to help users streamline their workflow, with Samsung teaming up with Microsoft and Intel for the launch, as per TechRepublic.

First, the Galaxy Book Pro comes in 13-inch and 15-inch versions, starting at US$999 and US$1,099 respectively. It has LTE and Wi-Fi 6E capabilities, and supports 65W fast charging so you can plug it into a USB Type-C adapter. Both versions come in three colorways: Mystic Silver, Mystic Blue, and Mystic Pink Gold.

The Galaxy Book Pro 360 – the highlight of the launch – lets users turn their laptops into a tablet to make use of the Pro 360’s touch screen. It also comes with Samsung’s upgraded S Pen so you can use the screen as a canvas. The company says the transformation could make work-life balance a more reachable reality.

“Pair your devices and easily jump from your work life to your personal life on your Galaxy Book Pro 360,” Samsung notes on its website. “Set it up as a second screen for twice the productivity or use it as a sketch pad for beautiful notetaking with our natural-feeling S Pen. Stop emailing yourself with Quick Share instant file-sharing or play your favorite mobile gaming app on a much larger display. Connect your Galaxy Buds Pro and go from expert video conferencing to catching up with your best friend in perfect clarity.”

This model offers 5G and is Wi-Fi 6E compatible, with prices starting at US$1,199 for the 13.3-inch version and US$1,299 for the 15.6-inch version. It’s available in Mystic Navy, Mystic Silver, and Mystic Bronze.

Both the Pro and Pro 360 come with AMOLED displays, a first for Samsung’s computers. They also feature an 11th Gen Intel Core processor and Intel Iris X graphics.

The laptops can also automatically manage fan noise, temperature, and battery usage to improve the device’s performance. Both models boast an ultra-thin design, with a 21-hour multi-workday battery life to last you all day.

Pre-orders for the Galaxy Book Pro and Galaxy Book Pro 360 have begun on the site, with the products launching on May 14.
