This Hypercar In The Making Is Powered Wholly By Hydrogen, Not Batteries

British startup Viritech has unveiled plans for the ‘Apricale’, a sleek four-wheeler that will run on hydrogen. With its root in F1 engineering and motorsports, it’s no wonder the firm has chosen a hypercar to possibly make headlines.
The Apricale, meaning “touched by sun,” is a fitting name, considering both the sun and the car consist of hydrogen. It is extremely lightweight, weighing just half that of its competitors.
Viritech hopes to use the Apricale as a platform to develop its hydrogen powertrain technologies, before expanding it to heavy transport, aircraft, boats, and ships.
Currently, the company has announced that the Apricale will go into limited production at the start of 2023, and will be producing just 25 cars to ensure its limited-edition status.
While the units are limited, it’s still a rather huge task to incorporate new technologies into a hypercar in under two years, but it seems that Viritech is up for the challenge.
Although the Apricale’s specs have yet to be released, as per Robb Report, it’s said to “challenge the world’s fastest battery-powered hypercars.” Plus, it’ll look just as nice, with a similar aerodynamic design and butterfly doors.
The hypercar is rumored to go for an estimated US$2.1 million, which will definitely lend to its super-rare status.
