Uber Is En Route To Hitching New Electric Ride-Hailing Cars

Uber has teamed up with UK-based startup Arrival, an electric bus and vehicle manufacturer, to create an electric ride-hailing car.
The ‘Arrival Car’ is said to be an “affordable, purpose-built electric vehicle for ride-hailing,” and is expected to go into production in Q4 of 2023, as per Gizmodo.
While this electric car won’t be exclusive to Uber, it boosts the ride-sharing giant’s plans to become a fully-electric platform in London by 2025, and in North America and Europe by 2030.
Though the electric vehicle is still in its initial stages of development, Uber has set aside US$188 million to help its London drivers make the switch to electric vehicles in 2025. This new partnership with Arrival will help to streamline the process with the new electric ride-hailing cars.
“We have a great partnership with UPS … and we hope to replicate that success with Uber as we develop the best possible product for ride hailing,” said Arrival Senior Vice-President Tom Elvidge.
