Ingenious iPhone Wallpapers Let You Know You’re Running Out Of Battery

We’ve all had the experience of leaving home before realizing that our smartphones weren’t charged, or worse still, in the red zone.
To help mitigate this annoyance, London-based designer Ben Vessey has released a collection of wallpapers that’ll let you know when your iPhone needs a charge.
The wallpapers, available in two packs of three, utilize automation Shortcuts to dynamically change based on your iPhone’s battery life. Each pack comes with three bespoke sets of backgrounds, with sizes optimized for every version of the iPhone since the iPhone 6S.
Plus, no jailbreak is required – the installation guide will walk you through the simple process of setting up the wallpapers using Shortcuts, available in iOS 14.
One set of wallpapers in the ‘Apple’ pack features a face in the middle of the screen, with green rings surrounded it when it’s at a healthy battery level. The rings switch to red to signal low battery, while it changes to quirky electric shocks when your iPhone is charging.
The ‘Faces’ pack features more playful styles of wallpapers. For example, the signature yellow smiley face will remain smiling when the iPhone has enough battery, but turns into a frustrated frown when it hits low battery. When it’s put on charge, it turns to a sleeping face, getting its much-needed “recharge.”
According to Fast Company, Vessey was looking to solve two issues when creating these wallpapers. Firstly, a user may sometimes think their iPhone is charging when it is not plugged in correctly, so the wallpaper change to its ‘charging’ face will be a more conspicuous indicator. Secondly, it’s to alert users when their iPhone’s battery level dips.
