The Smithsonian has teamed up with cruiseliner PONANT to launch curated, all-inclusive cruises featuring excursions that celebrate the instinct to explore.
The cruises will span across 18 destinations, including Antarctica, Panama and Costa Rica, the Caribbean Islands, Lisbon to London, Japan, Southern Spain and Portugal, the Baltic Sea, Iceland, Scotland and Norway, Arctic Norway, and the Irish Sea.
According to Travel + Leisure, the programs will be hosted by experts such as archaeologists, scientists, anthropologists, and historians onboard to bring each destination’s history to life.
There’ll also be excursions and activities you won’t find elsewhere. Take an udon master class before strolling through an Edo-period garden in Japan, or watch out for polar bears as you trek along the Svalbard archipelago with naturalist guides.
“As travel begins to resume, we believe guests will be more interested than ever in meaningful and enriching experiences that help to better interpret and understand the places they’re exploring,” Lynn Cutter, Senior Vice-President for Smithsonian Travel, told
Travel + Leisure.
