Studio Ghibli’s Mysterious Pixar Crossover Visual Leaves Fans In A Frenzy

The multifaceted Disney universe might just expand to accommodate an adorable cat-like creature and his friends, if a delightful new image posted by the official Studio Ghibli Twitter account implies anything.
As reported by SoraNews24, Japanese fans were elated yet baffled when Studio Ghibli uploaded an unexpected illustration inspired by a famous My Neighbor Totoro image.
The artwork shows an umbrella-wielding Totoro waiting at a bus stop with James “Jimmy” P. “Sulley” Sullivan and Michael “Mike” Wazowski of Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. Sulley has his own umbrella, while Mike is sufficiently protected by a leaf on his head, à la Totoro.
If you recall, characters in the 2001 film are trained to scare human children, so there’s a good guess why Mei and Satsuki, the two human main characters in My Neighbor Totoro, might not be in the picture.
In responses translated from Japanese by SoraNews24, fans have excitedly pondered over the possibility of a Studio Ghibli and Pixar collaboration. “Monsters and Totoro! What a wonderful world that would be!” one user writes. “I would definitely watch this movie!” says another.
One viewer reveals the revelation that “Totoro and Sulley are roughly the same height!”
As of now, Studio Ghibli has not shared details beyond this illustration. It’s worth pointing out, however, that Disney is a distributor of certain Studio Ghibli animations, so this nostalgic image could simply be a show of honor and friendship.
