Amazon Could Be Buying MGM Studios, Leo The Lion Logo For $9 Billion

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, one of Hollywood’s most famous studios behind titles such as James Bond and The Handmaid’s Tale, could be bought over by Amazon for US$9 billion.
And if Bezos does acquire the famed movie studio, Amazon could gain access to a movie and television catalog dating back to over a century ago.
According to reports by Variety and Bloomberg, Amazon is one of the several tech firms putting their hats in the ring to acquire MGM Studios, along with its Leo the Lion logo.
The studio is said to have discussed the buy-over with different firms, including Apple and Netflix, which were approached to take up its latest Bond film directly to streaming.
The estimated price of the deal is said to be between US$7 billion to US$10 billion, with US$9 billion being the asking price.
As per TechSpot, MGM has over 4,000 titles in its movie catalog, with big hitters such as The Hobbit, The Silence of the Lambs, and The Magnificent Seven. Its television collection also boasts fan-favorites like Fargo, The Real Housewives franchise, and The Voice.
Could MGM’s illustrious catalog be coming to Amazon Prime? Fingers crossed.
