Banksy Is Now A Kids’ Role Model In Picture Book Teaching Them To Be Like Him

Though many artistic parents might dream of their children turning into the next Leonardo da Vinci or Pablo Picasso, how about the next Banksy?

After all, he’s made a name for himself as the most famous street artist of our time, with works fetching up to US$23 million.

Now, at storytime, you can read the little ones a book about the street artist, titled Banksy Graffitied Walls And Wasn’t Sorry. Retailing for US$16, it is written and illustrated by Fausto Gilberti, and aims to teach children more about graffiti and street art.

The book tells Banksy’s story from a first-person perspective, including parts about keeping his identity a secret.

Although publisher Phaidon says Banksy was not involved with the project personally, his company Pest Control had sent the company an image of the artist’s Girl With Balloon work for the artwork featured on the back of the book.

Throughout the book’s 48 pages, many of the artist’s signature motifs make an appearance, including lots of rats. It’s recommended for ages four to seven, portraying Banksy as a positive role model who’s challenging artistic norms.

Banksy Graffitied Walls And Wasn’t Sorry is the fourth book in a series of books about artists, with other books on Jackson Pollock, Yves Klein, and Yayoi Kusama. The text is now available on Amazon.
