BAPE’s Classic ‘BAPEX’ Watches Won’t Blend Into Your Wrist Like Camo

A Bathing Ape’s timepiece series is ticking almost every box of a Rolex watch, and it’s not afraid to show it. Extending an existing array of luxury watches, the Japanese streetwear label has now unveiled the BAPEX Type 1 model in three posh colorways.
Not just monkeying around, BAPE’s latest timepieces are built to last, thanks to their stainless steel finish and scratch-resistant sapphire windows. Getting into water with them won’t be a problem, either, as they can stay drenched for up to 100 meters (328 feet).
Rolex owners might do a double-take with the BAPEX’s uncanny luminous display and sleek unidirectional rotatable bezel, as well as its silver/black, silver/green, and silver/purple options.
For old times’ sake, the wrist candy moves on perpetual mechanics, too.
A key feature is the spin on the Rolex logo. BAPE’s version features a similar wordmark along with its iconic monkey head and the tagline, “Ape shall never kill ape.”
Each watch retails for US$639, and will debut on June 12.
