Oreo Introduces Diverse Rainbow Cookies Inspired By Five Different Pride Flags

Oreo is taking diversity seriously by unveiling not one, not two, but five Pride packs for 2021 as a nod to five different flags celebrating the LGBTQ+ community.

The limited-edition OREOiD Pride cookies arrive with creme fillings representing the colors of the famous Gilbert Baker rainbow flag, the bisexual flag, the lesbian flag, the pansexual flag, and the trans flag, POPSUGAR reports.

Only 3,000 Pride packs will be available this year, and they’ll be up on a first-come-first-served basis on the Oreo website from June 29. Fans must be aged 13 or above, as well as be a US or Puerto Rican resident, to be eligible for a box.

Aside from the special-edition cookies, Oreo has also enlisted LGBTQ+ artists Zipeng Zhu, Bráulio Amado, Kris Andrew Small, and Phaedra Charles to design posters featuring the first words that loved ones said to LGBTQ+ individuals when they came out to them, along with the words that the LGBTQ+ individuals wish could have been said to them. “Finding the right words to say can be challenging for LGBTQ+ people and their families, especially during those first coming-out conversations,” said spokesperson for PFLAG National Brian K. Bond.

Oreo is also donating US$50,000 to PFLAG National, the first-ever organization for LGBTQ+ people and loved ones, for its awareness initiatives.
