All Drone Owners Must Now Pass A TRUST Test To Fly Legally In The US

Going forward, all drone owners—even those flying recreationally—will need to pass a free online training program by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in order to fly legally in the US.
The test, known as the The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST), will be required for all drones that weigh more than 0.55 pounds. Now, not only do drone owners have to register their unmanned aerial vehicles though the FAA’s Drone Zone, they’re also required to pass the TRUST test.
According to PetaPixel, TRUST will be divided into two segments: the first will provide the pilot will have the information required, while the second is a series of multiple-choice questions to answer. It’s said to be nearly impossible to fail, as if a question is answered incorrectly, an explanation on why the answer was wrong will be provided, before the question is asked again.
The online program aims to educate recreational pilots on important safety and regulatory information. Drone pilots will need to show proof of passing to a FAA agent or law enforcement if asked.
Once a pilot passes TRUST, the certificate will be valid for life, though if one loses their certificate, the only way to obtain a new one will be to retake the test.
