Israeli Military Create 3D Models To Aid Florida Condo Collapse Search

To assist local efforts in finding victims trapped in the rubble of the Florida condominium building that collapsed on Thursday, June 24, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has created a set of 3D diagrams of the Champlain Towers South to visualize specific apartments.
An initial number of 35 people were rescued on the first day. With a total of 80 out of 136 condo units occupied during the time of collapse, officials and rescuers—including the 15 members of the Floridian IDF delegation—still have hopes that the number of people found alive will increase with sustained rescue efforts.
“No matter what the chances are, we keep on hoping and we don’t assume anything. We are here to find as many people as possible,” Capt. Uri Jospe, reserves civilian population officer, told the New York Post.
IDF’s Unit 9900, which created these images, usually gathers visual intelligence as well as geographical data via plane and satellite. According to the rescuers on-site, the unit has been highly accurate in creating these 3D models, evidenced by the objects found so far and information from the families.
