Bosch Debuts Handheld Device That Uses Plasma To Wipe Away Odors From Fabrics

Bosch has unveiled a brand-new handheld device that promises to lift even the most stubborn of odors from your outfits. Without needing water, detergent, or fragrance, just charge up the device with a micro-USB, and swipe away.
FreshUp is touted to eliminate unwanted smells such as cigarette smoke and body odor, allowing you to get the freshness of leaving your clothes out to dry – when you haven’t.
According to T3, the mini device uses plasma to “dissolve the bonds between odor molecules,” allowing them to be broken down and dissipated entirely. Instead of masking odors with other fragrances, the FreshUp device just removes them completely.
For a quick fix while on the move, simply swipe the gadget over the garment you are wearing. “The small amounts of UV light and ozone are harmless to humans,” Bosch’s website writes.
Freshup is said to be effective on common dry fabrics — including silk, cashmere and wool — and even suitable for use on suits & dresses labelled ‘dry clean only.’ Other than apparel, items such as plush toys and sofa cushions can be treated too.
One notable deterrent, though, is the mini device’s large price tag. Retailing at £249.99 (US$345), you’ll have to be swiping a lot of outfits for it to be worth it. For those hoping to save on their dry-cleaning bill, this could possibly be a solution to your woes.
