Tesla Divulges Finalized Cybertruck Will Be Able To Walk Like A Crab

Elon Musk’s fantasy pickup truck in the making won’t just look funny to many, but it will move funny too.
As Tesla fanatics rare for the official launch of the notorious Cybertruck, CEO Elon Musk has got one more design detail to amp them up with.
For the most part, the finalized Cybertruck will be kept as “almost exactly the same as what was shown,” he disclosed in a tweet—which is good news for manufacturers who have already invented wacky add-ons for the vehicle, like a live-in roof.
What’s new is the steering ability of the rear wheels, which will enable the Cybertruck to “make tight turns and maneuver with great agility,” Musk let on.
As car news sites like Electrek have pointed out, this addition is affectionately known as ‘Crab Mode’, a feature quintessential of the Hummer EV. With the four-wheel steering ability, vehicles can move diagonally at low speeds and crawl on rocks in less-accessible terrain, just like the crustaceans.
Entrepreneur reports that the updated Cybertruck will also sport an improved dynamic suspension configuration, allowing the driver to elevate or lower the vehicle about four inches to adapt to various settings.
Elsewhere, the Cybertruck boasts up to 500 miles of range and can reach a speed of 60 miles per hour in just 2.9 seconds. It also has 3,500 pounds of payload capacity, along with 100 cubic feet of external lockable storage, so drivers can comfortably retreat to paths less traveled. Its interior offers plenty of legroom for six, as well as additional storage beneath the second-row seats.
The Cybertruck is anticipated to go into production in late 2021, with the baseline single-motor option supposedly due for a late-2022 date.
