100% Vegan Sneakers Are Made From An Eye-Popping Material: Bubble Wrap

The packaging you use to protect items for shipping now shields your feet from getting wet.
These offbeat, unisex sneakers from eco-friendly German shoe brand nat-2 are decked out in the inherent pattern and sheen of bubble wrap not just for aesthetics, but also to honor a commitment for sustainability.
The 100% vegan recycled sneakers were constructed using patented material from REMEANT, an Israeli startup that turns single-use plastics—like bubble wrap from landfills—into lightweight, durable, waterproof, and easy-to-clean materials. The use of bubble wrap gives them a reflective texture that appears different in color under various lighting, while keeping the shoes resistant to water.
Though Moschino launched its own ‘bubble wrap’ sneakers not too long ago, they’re not actually crafted from the packaging material. nat-2, on the other hand, says its version is the first shoe to ever be designed with real bubble wrap.
The footwear’s lining is made from bioceramic yarn developed by nat-2, Inhabitat details. The special thread is composed of ceramic fibers and real silver yarn to offer antibacterial and climate-regulating properties, as well as create a clean look.
The removable insoles of these bubble wrap sneakers are crafted from real cork, gently obtained from the exterior of a tree. Meanwhile, the laces are stitched from recycled PET, the uppers and heels contain reflective glass, and the outsoles are made from 100% real rubber.
To some, using recycled products means being prepared for them to fall apart faster than items constructed with all-new materials. However, these upcycled sneakers are built to last, maintaining their original appearance and refusing to crease even after multiple uses.
And they seem to come pre-popped, so you won’t have to fight the urge to squeeze them.
The shoes are available to purchase at retailer Coilex, which does worldwide climate-neutral deliveries and packs its goods in recycled packaging.
