Virgin Galactic Is Giving Out Free Trips To Space With Charity Sweepstakes

Following Virgin Galactic’s successful flight to the edge of space with founder Richard Branson, it is offering interstellar trips for non-billionaires, too.
The space firm has teamed up with Omaze to announce a sweepstakes that’s giving away two seats aboard “one of the first” commercial spaceflights.
Though the sweepstakes are free to take part in, donations to Space for Humanity – a non-profit organization working on democratizing space for all – will give you more entries, increasing your chances of winning the spaceflight.
According to Engadget, it’s important to note, if you do win, you’ll have to go through training regimens to prepare you for the trip.
The Virgin Galactic sweepstakes is ongoing from now till September 1, with the winner being announced on September 29. Those onboard the spaceflight will be able to experience weightlessness while enjoying incredible views of the Earth from space. Plus, you’ll get a personal tour of Spaceport America from Branson himself.
While it seems that interstellar flights are only possible if you’re a billionaire (à la Branson, Elon Musk, and Jeff Bezos), such contests give ordinary citizens a shot at experiencing space without forking out millions of dollars.
