Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel Arrives In The US, With Art In Full-Sized Glory

With travel still on pause due to the pandemic, your bucket-list trip of visiting the Sistine Chapel in Rome may have to wait a while longer. However, you can now visit an immersive exhibition stateside that brings the Sistine Chapel to you.
Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition is a new show in San Antonio, Texas, featuring true-to-size, museum-quality copies of the famed painter’s iconic works. The exhibition is being held in the historic Lambermont mansion, with famed pieces such as The Creation of Adam and The Last Judgement on display.
According to My Modern Met, visitors will be able to experience these masterpieces up close and personal, at eye level – something that can’t be done even at the Sistine Chapel itself.
“Our aim is to bring you the art Michelangelo created closeup. In the Sistine Chapel, you aren’t allowed to take any photos at all. Here, you can take as much time and as many pictures as you want,” said Martin Biallas, CEO of SEE Attractions Inc, the firm behind the exhibition.
“We’ve had people pose in front of The Creation of Adam reaching toward each other – that is something you could never do in the Vatican.”
The San Antonio exhibition spans across three stories, offering visitors an intimate, one-of-a-kind experience unlike anywhere else. The exhibition will run at Lambermont Events in San Antonio, Texas, until September 6. Tickets are available for purchase here.
