Emojis Get Upscaled To High-Res, And The Detail Is Just *Heart Eyes*

You’ve likely been in awe of the buffet of food emojis in your phone that look too picture-perfect to exist. Now, you can admire them and over 1,000 more icons up close.
Pablo Sanzo, a senior product manager at Amazon, has meticulously upscaled 1,623 emojis from 160 x 160-pixels to 2,560 x 2,560-pixels with the help of artificial intelligence.
That’s a huge jump, and the result is worth a chef’s kiss emoji. It’s not just about making the graphics sharper—rainbow sprinkles on the doughnut icon are more 3D, the metallic alarm clock has a reflection, popcorn’s styrofoam-y texture is accentuated and so are the blunt edges of the box, grapes look plumper, and you can almost taste the sesame seeds on the burger bun.
Sanzo has released all 1,623 images to be downloaded for free for personal use. That’s 3.22GB of emojis… but who’s complaining?
