Giant Teddy Bear Walks Cross-Country From LA To New York For A Good Cause

Traveling anywhere between the east and west coast this summer? You might sight a life-sized cheery teddy bear, Bearsun, taking a summer stroll along your route.
In April, Bearsun walked 480 miles from Los Angeles to San Francisco, and documented it on Instagram. The man behind the bear, 33-year-old Jessy Larios, hails from California and works for a health insurance company. He’s been channeling the Bearsun character since 2016.
As CNN reports, in 2019, he attempted to run a marathon in the full body suit. By the 22nd mile he had to drop out, but on his second attempt in 2020, made it to the finish line.
“I had this goofy idea of just putting on the suit and trying to complete the marathon without ever running a marathon (before) — another impulsive decision that I made,” he told CNN.
This summer, Bearsun is walking from Los Angeles to New York to raise funds for organizations supporting autism, cancer, mental health, the disabled community, and the environment, and the names are listed on his website. There’s also a link to the GoFundMe for donations to the Autism Society of America, and as of today, US$6,665 has been raised out of the US$15,000 goal.
Bearsun and his travels were simply born of Larios’ whims. It sounded “like a fun adventure”, he said, so he decided to do it.
