Harry Potter New York opened on June 3 this year, much to the excitement of Hogwarts fans in and around the city. Located next to the Flatiron building at 935 Broadway, the store now adds two exciting new VR offerings to the myriad of exclusive experiences already on offer in the decked-out space.

The store spans more than 21,000 square feet across three stories. In addition to the merchandise on offer, the themed store is also packed with props, models, and interactive elements such as photo opportunities.

Newly opened on July 15 were Chaos at Hogwarts and Wizards Take Flight, both adventures themed around Hogwarts Castle. The games were created by WeVR and Dreamscape, in partnership with Warner Bros.

In the first title, players follow Dobby through the castle, using their spell-casting abilities to manage the ensuing chaos; the latter provides an adrenaline-boosting race through the skies on a flying broomstick, meeting Hagrid, and defeating Death Eaters across London along the way.

Anyone over 10 years old and visitors taller than 48 inches tall can participate in the VR games, though under-13s must be accompanied by a ticketed adult. They’re both 10 to 15 minutes long, with an additional 10 minutes of setup. That involves trackers attached to players’ limbs and the donning of a HP Z VR PC backpack, which powers the HP Reverb G2 headsets. Then, you’re set to begin your journey into the world of magic.

According to an exclusive early-access report by CNET, each game costs US$34 to book, but it’s “unlikely” that players will be able to experience both on the same day. However, you get to bypass the virtual queue for store access. Although it’s hard to choose just one and forgo the other, it’s promised that “either way you go, the level of detail is incredible and the fun you will have is unlikely to be forgotten anytime soon.”
