Prada Dips Its Toes Into Luxury Outdoor Accessories Fit For Couture Getaways

Prada isn’t solely a luxury fashion house. Past innovative products such as its thousand-dollar set of tic-tac-toe proves as such. And now, it’s dabbling into designer outdoor wares in the newly debuted Prada Outdoor collections: Mountain, Garden, Coast, and Snow.

Each “season” reflects a different aspect of outdoor life. Prada paints a gorgeous picture of scenarios and backdrops for its products: “A picnic on the lawn, games on the beach, the cool shade of the trees.”

Designed for perhaps less intense or rugged outdoor activities—think glamping—the capsule includes apparel, hiking backpacks, hammocks, and some dog accessories for your furry pal to match.

The contemporary garments still have somewhat of a distinctly Prada look to them, but now with details that make them more akin to sportswear than Fashion Week catwalks. With a base palette of monochrome, splashes of bright color are incorporated to the brand’s Re-Nylon material used widely across the garments and accessories. Of course, the brand’s logo is boldly emblazoned across the material.

Apparel isn’t all, though. The range includes some outdoor accessories too. Some “simple” offerings span lunch boxes (US$140), glass bowls (US$120), and cutlery sets (US$85 to US$420) to accompany outdoor dinner parties and picnics. They were made in partnership with Black + Blum, a cookware brand focused on developing sustainable products. Aimed to enhance outdoor activities, there are also products like a frisbee (US$650 ) and yoga mat (US$1,990) on offer.

Prada stores and departmental stores globally have hosted pop-up shops and installations to celebrate the launch of the new products and allow customers to see them in action. Mountain, Garden, and Coast have had shows of their own so far, and Snow is set to debut in the latter half of 2021, just in time for the Northern Hemisphere winter.
