Tiny Dishwasher That Sits On Your Countertop Needs No Plumbing At All

After revealing the ‘Tetra’ countertop dishwasher at CES 2018, startup Heatworks has opened preorders for the innovative new dishwasher that doesn’t require any plumbing—just an electrical outlet and some water.
Tetra can carry around three place settings of dishes, including plates, cups, and utensils. Users will just need to load their dishes, fill the tank with three liters (0.8 gallons) of water, and insert a cartridge of dish detergent. Once the cycle is complete and clean dishes have been obtained, the dirty water gets poured down the sink.
Heatworks claims that Tetra “cleans 50% more dishes using 40% less water in 55% of the time than the leading brand.” Its cartridge technology also assures less waste than a traditional plastic container for detergent.

As reported by Gizmodo, the Tetra heats water up using Ohmic Array Technology, which is akin to how microwaves work. Instead of using metal elements as most traditional methods do, this technology relies on graphite and electricity to trigger the minerals existing in water. It’s not only more efficient, but there would also be more control with temperature, too.
There are different modes, as well, utilizing the temperature control to its fullest capabilities. Delicate materials like baby bottles and kids’ cutlery can be washed without risk of deformation or warping plastic, and even fruit can be washed on its own special setting.
Usually priced at US$499, buyers who snag a preorder now can knock $100 off the price and get it for $399 instead.
