Marvel Introduces Its First Official NFTs, Beginning With ‘Spider-Man’

Marvel has finally jumped on the bandwagon with its very own non-fungible tokens (NFTs), collaborating with online marketplace VeVe to launch Spider-Man digital collectibles. This marks Marvel’s first foray into the world of official NFTs. Unsurprisingly, all rarities sold out in just a day.
Fans were able to collect five different digital versions of Spider-Man, ranging from US$40 to US$400 each, depending on its rarity. According to Decrypt, the “common” Amazing Spider-Man NFT was made available for 32,000 buyers, while the “secret-rare” Ultimate Animated Spider-Man NFT had 1,000 copies on sale.
These Spider-Man NFTs are envisioned in the form of 3D “digital statues,” which buyers can view from all angles, and even be displayed in a customizable virtual showroom.

If you haven’t managed to snag one, fret not. Later this month, Marvel and VeVe will be putting up five different covers of Marvel Comics #1—the first-ever Marvel comic book produced in 1939—as NFTs. Buyers will be able to purchase them in a “blind box” for US$6.99 each, meaning you won’t know which variant you get till you open it.
Alongside that, the company will also be launching another “blind box” series, this time featuring Captain America. These NFTs will come in the form of ‘Marvel Mightys’ digital figures, including characters Steve Rogers, Sam Wilson, Bucky Barnes, John F Walker, and the Red Skull at US$13 each.
