WhatsApp Finally Makes Data Transfer Between Android & iOS Devices A Possibility

At Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event this week, WhatsApp parent company Facebook confirmed that users will now be able to bring their messaging history with them across mobile platforms. This means that users switching from iPhones to Androids and vice-versa will no longer need to forgo their entire chat history.
According to SlashGear, instead of just text messages, the transfer will also be able to move pictures and voice notes from one operating system to the other.
While this feature on WhatsApp is expected to work for Android to iPhone switches in the near future, the present version only works when transferring data from iOS to Android; the only requirement is that the Android smartphone has to be running Android 10 or later.
Previously, users were hesitant to switch operating platforms, for fear that they wouldn’t be able to retrieve their messages. And with WhatsApp being one of the most popular apps out there, it meant that a large number of users were “stuck” with either iOS or Android. Now, with this new option, users can try cross-platform smartphones with ease.
The feature is expected to roll out in a few weeks.
