Mattel Pays Homage To King Of Rock & Roll With Elvis Presley Barbie

Wise men say only fools rush in, so for this year’s Elvis Week—about 50 years from the legendary Nashville “marathon” sessions—Mattel is finally releasing an ‘Elvis Presley’ Barbie doll to pay tribute to the King of Rock and Roll.
The female interpretation, retailing at US$50 in limited counts, dons the famous ‘American Eagle’ jumpsuit that Presley had worn at several concerts. The flashy white outfit is decked out in rhinestones and bedazzled red, blue, and gold eagles; with a flamboyant cape, scarf, bell-bottoms, and a belt with more eagles.

Although rocking a long ponytail, the doll also sports the iconic pompadour; after all, it’s not Presley without his slick hairdo. Interestingly, the Barbie’s “body type” is described as “Gigi Hadid” on the website. That’s because this particular silhouette is built with high-heeled feet.
The snazzy collector’s item arrives in a glam black and gold box echoing Presley’s Suspicious Minds days.
