Spell Out Your Name In Glitz & Glam With These Alphabet Diamonds

Personalized jewelry has always been in style—be it engraving an anniversary date on a bracelet or marking a message behind a wristwatch—there are a few ways to make the piece your very own. Now, New York-based jeweler K Kane has introduced a new way to customize jewelry, and it’s with alphabet diamonds.
Instead of the usual cuts of diamonds you see in stores, K Kane cuts rough diamonds into letters of the alphabet, before setting them on platinum and hanging them on a chain for ultra-personalized jewelry.
Katherine Kane, the founder of the brand, said the making of these alphabets is based on finding the right stones.
“We start by looking for the right rough diamonds, which have to be a very specific shape to accommodate the letter cutting. Then the roughs have to be carefully examined to see which letter they are best suited for – for example, one stone may be better suited to an ‘A’ and another stone may be better suited to an ‘L’,” she explained to Wallpaper.
Even the platinum settings are made to order, with each shaped and hand-filed to match the specific diamond cutting. The prongs are made to sit behind the diamond, so the piece looks as if it is “floating” in mid-air.
