Anthony Hopkins’ Movie Is Skipping The Theaters For A Full-Length NFT Release

Remember the first time you watched Silence Of The Lambs in the 90s? Well, three decades on from the 1991 blockbuster horror film, actor Anthony Hopkins brings a new thriller to the screens—but not in the usual theaters.
Hopkins stars in Zero Contact, a new movie that will debut exclusively to viewers as a non-fungible token (NFT). Instead of a premiere in the theater, the film will be released on Vuele, the first direct-to-consumer viewing and distribution platform for full-length NFT movies. It will also be the world’s first NFT feature film.
On the platform, viewers will be able to watch, collect, sell or even trade various movie NFTs, including Hopkins’ latest film. Interestingly, the NFT isn’t the only thing unique about Zero Contact. Turns out, the film was produced entirely virtually in 17 different countries during the COVID-19 pandemic.
With artists and celebrities gravitating towards the world of NFTs, it was just time before the film industry jumped on the bandwagon, too. Plus, it helps fight against copyright infringement, as each NFT comes with a digital record that authenticates its source.
“For Vuele’s very first movie to be featuring such a high-profile star is a major endorsement for what we see as the next frontier for Hollywood, and how it will premiere feature-length films and merchandise collectibles surrounding the films produced,” said Cameron Chell, Co-Head of Vuele.

Zero Contact follows the lives of five people spread across the world, connected through their allegiance to tech mogul Finely Hart (Anthony Hopkins). Hart harbors a secret invention that could be lethal, even ending mankind as we know it. The quintet is determined to shut down the machine before the world falls into disarray.
According to Chell, the first NFT will be a “one-of-one” version, including the director’s cut and exclusive behind-the-scenes interviews. Some of the NFTs will be auctioned, while others will be sold at a fixed price, as per LaptopMag.
“The market will determine how much the Zero Contact NFT sells for. NFTs created digital scarcity and the value of that is in the eye of the collector,” she explained.
